Greetings to you all and a big thank you to all the key workers who have kept things going during tough times. Some of us have been lucky to have the option to work from home but it is not as easy it may seem. So I have decided share some times on how to work from home...
Working from home requires collaboration since you are working in isolation from the rest of your team, communication is important. It is important to hold regular meetings to ensure you and your team/ work colleagues are on the same page and planning ahead to get the work done.
When working from home you will need a good support system especially when things get stressful. In an office working space you have your colleagues openly expressive and better understanding because it is face to face, when working from home you will need someone to vent . Do not be afraid to call a work colleague to share or vent your frustrations as they would understand you and they will also need support from someone who is going through the same thing. If things get a bit out of control, causing you stress make sure to communicate this to your Manager or HR. Do not let stress get the best of you. The more you state your concerns, the better your company will try and find ways to fix and make things easier for all.
It is absolutely true that you end up doing ten times more work when working from home. You probably are trying hard to prove to everyone that you are working and at times you may not realise you are going too long without breaks. Make sure you take a break just like you would in an office space to keep your mind fresh. You are bound to make less mistakes and be more constructive when you take regular breaks. What's important is that you still manage to get your work done.
It is important to incorporate an exercise routine in your day to release endorphins and lead a balanced lifestyle. I tend to do my exercise routine for no more than 30 minutes during my lunch break. This helps a lot since you've spent hours sitting down and need a good stretch to avoid tense muscles. Make sure you also drink a lot of water. Just make sure you try squeeze in some exercises whether it's first thing in the morning, lunch or after work as this makes a huge difference.
I hope I have helped anyone who has been working from home & finding things a little difficult. Keep you head up : )
